The Purity Medal marks the beginning of a spiritual journey that has led us to a greater knowledge of the past, a deeper understanding of the present, and a determined hope for the future. The Purity Medal has motivated and intensified our spirituality and discernment. It has inspired us to live a life more pleasing to God and has given us the tools necessary to pursue this devotional medal.
Our journey began in July of 2009. That summer, we decided to visit a Marian apparition site during which we experienced a special calling. At the time we had no idea what it meant but we knew we were being called to something of particular importance.
In December of that same year, we came across a message from November 27, 1989 in which Our Lady said-
“These days, I want you to pray in a special way for the salvation of souls. Today is the Feast of the Miraculous Medal, and I want that you pray in a special way for the salvation of those people who are carrying this Miraculous Medal. I want you to spread the devotion and the carrying of this medal, so that more souls may be saved, and that you pray in a special way.”
A crucial part of this message stood out to us. Our Lady kept impressing upon us the words "this Miraculous Medal". She did not say the Miraculous Medal. Consequently, we felt that she wanted her image on a medal, and that this image would be different from the current Miraculous Medal. However, we had no idea what sort of image she desired. From there we began looking deeper into the history of the Miraculous Medal.
This research turned into over ten years of intense study, discernment, and dialogue with many in the Church. It has led us to a number of other approved Marian apparitions which have confirmed the need for this Purity Medal Devotion: Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of All Nations, and Our Lady of America.
It represents the culmination of many apparitions of the Marian Age, beginning with Saint Catherine of Laboure in 1830 and continuing still today in Medjugorje. The Purity Medal personifies all the credible and most important heavenly images and messages into a single mosaic, making it one united medal for our time.
These understandings are based on private revelation, and as the Catechism states, “They do not belong, however, to the deposit of faith. It is not their role to improve or complete Christ's definitive Revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history” (67).
However, Pope Urban VIII stated: "In cases which concern private revelations, it is better to believe than not to believe, for, if you believe, and it is proven true, you will be happy that you have believed because our Holy Mother asked it. If you believe, and it should be proven false, you will receive all blessings as if it had been true, because you believed it to be true."
The choice of whether or not to accept and acknowledge the information presented on this website is ultimately yours. As Saint Bernadette stated in Lourdes, “My job is to inform, not to convince.”
We hope this Purity Medal inspires you just as it inspires us and all those who stand by us. May this Marian medal instill in you a renewed fire for Christ and a greater love for Our Blessed Mother.
